I was thrilled to be contacted this weekend by a new sustainable startup fashion company VIDA, based out of San Francisco. VIDA had seen my artwork online through social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Pinterest and invited me to design some silk shirts and scarves using my original artwork as the design.
VIDA is a Google Ventures-backed fashion e-commerce platform that brings together designers and makers around the world to create original, inspiring apparel in a socially conscious way. Using innovations in technology, VIDA gives designers the chance to convert their design vision into products like scarves, tops and dresses. I am particularly excited and proud that for every VIDA product made, the company offers literacy programs for the makers in Karachi, Pakistan, so that they have the opportunity to gain reading, writing, and math skills.
I absolutely love this business model, uniting artists and manufacturers across the globe. Take a look at the VIDA story :
“VIDA’s story is that of the rich, interconnected world we live in — the story of contemporary life and mindful, global citizenship”.
I found 5 great designs I thought would work great for scarves and silk tanks : Here are the images I chose :
The Kiss
Aquatic Journey
The scarves are made out of 100% MicroModal by Lenzing, a luxuriously soft botanic silk fabric made out of European beechwood. Because of modal’s botanic origin, it is very eco-friendly. MicroModal offers a soft beautiful sheen, with colors which are bright and vibrant !
